GingerCloud Foundation's Community Achievement Awards Evening 2020

On Friday the 27th of November, our GingerCloud team came together for the Community Achievement Awards 2020 presentation. GingerCloud was a finalist in the 2020 Community Group of the Year Award and whilst we anxiously waited for the announcement, we were reminded that no matter what the outcome, together with our community we are truly creating the change we want to see in the world.

GingerCloud did in fact win the 2020 Community Group of the Year Award however that success was overshadowed by Max Elliott’s success that evening.

Only two years ago if you asked Max, the son of GingerCloud’s founders Megan and Anthony Elliott, to sit down to a formal dinner with 11 adults, he would have shied away and been very anxious.

After working with Max as his Support Coordinator and seeing the impact the MRP has had on his life, he is a very different young man.

He engaged with the adults, made some great jokes, asked lots of questions, and made fantastic conversation.

He also made dessert for everyone and served it by himself – he was a very gracious and generous host!

Max is just one example of how the hard work done by GingerCloud through the delivery of programs such as the MRP truly changes the lives of those involved.

We want to give a special thank-you to Councillor David McLachlan for his nomination and to his incredible wife Nicole for always supporting our vision. We were so grateful to have you by our sides as we won this award.

To have that hard work recognised with such an incredible award is a very gratifying moment. To know the community supports us and acknowledges that we are worthy and we are accepted, is very powerful and humbling.

In true GingerCloud fashion, the conversation quickly turned into all we can achieve and what to do next! The determination to progress and be bigger and better is undying in this organisation. It is a true honour to be a part of something so life-changing.

Max himself, when asked about how he enjoyed Friday night said: “I liked seeing everyone so happy and I liked making new friends. I think they liked my dessert a lot too because they didn’t leave any for me to eat later.”

Thank you to the Team at GingerCloud and all those who joined us online to celebrate. We will be forever grateful for the support and love given to us.

We hope to continue to do our community proud as we progress further.
