The MRP Welcome BBQ - A Great Start To The 2018 Season!

What a success! The 2018 MRP Welcome BBQ on Sunday at Ballymore was a fantastic afternoon to have the MRP family back together to kick-off another fun-filled season!

It made for the perfect opportunity to welcome so many new faces to the MRP tribe - it was great to meet you all!

From name games to ball drills, the new MRP girls, boys and young adults had the opportunity to experience the inclusivity and safety of the MRP. It was heart-warming to witness these new MRP Players step outside their comfort zone, play in a new environment with unfamiliar faces and understand what it feels like to become part of a team. There were smiles all round!

We enjoyed a fabulous sausage sizzle throughout the afternoon thanks to St. George Bank and witnessed an awesome MRP Colts Exhibition Match showcasing MRP Players 14 – 19 years take to the field and show off their skills! Tries were scored and high-fives and fists pimps quickly followed.

Thanks again to some great MRP Partners and Supporters for coming down to the fields to witness the MRP in action: Paul Blundell and Lou Gardiner from St. George Bank, Stuart Walker from Manitou, and Club representatives including Shane Forest from Norths Rugby and Graeme Linklater, Dan Liddy and Luke Beauchamp from Brothers Rugby.

This year, with our new MRP division, MRP Colts, and two new local community rugby clubs coming on board to host the program, this season is bound to be the MRP’s biggest one yet!

Key season dates:

  • PlayerMentor Training – Sunday, 15 April

  • Training commences at all Queensland Clubs -  Thursday, 19 April or Friday, 20 April

Please check with your local community rugby club

  • First MRP fixture: Saturday, 21 April

Now it’s time to take to the fields and experience the healing power of rugby for another year with our MRP family.

We cannot wait!
